At Labor of Love, we recognize the importance of compassionate care that honors you as a whole person. Whether you're embracing the initial stages of pregnancy or seeking to transfer into our care, we consider it a privilege to be part of your unique experience. Our midwives specialize in providing comprehensive care for low-risk pregnancies. Enjoy personalized prenatal visits where we create a supportive environment for open discussions about your body’s changes and current pregnancy stage.

What you can expect at Labor of Love:

  • We complete full health screenings throughout pregnancy to ensure an out-of-hospital birth is a safe option for you and your baby.

  • We can offer blood tests, ultrasounds, and routine screenings.

  • Extended appointment times offer more opportunities to get to know your provider and more time to ask questions. You can expect to be with your provider for at least 30 minutes face-to-face.

  • We follow a traditional schedule, meaning we have appointments every four weeks in the early weeks. At 28-30 weeks, appointments move to every two weeks. Starting at week 36, we will meet every week until you go into labor.

Are you a good fit for birth center care?

We welcome low risk pregnant individuals who are actively engaged in their own health and are committed to preparing for a low-intervention, un-medicated birthing experience. Our center offers many holistic coping tools for labor, but we are not a good fit if you plan to use an epidural or schedule a cesarean birth. If you are carrying multiples/twins, unfortunately, we cannot provide support, and Florida law prohibits vaginal birth after a cesarean (VBAC) in birth centers.

If you have specific questions about your eligibility, you can schedule a complimentary consultation with our midwives or email us at anytime. At your first appointment with your midwife, your medical history and records will be discussed to ensure you meet the criteria required for care at the birth center. Your midwife will continue to assess for risk factors at each prenatal visit and will consult, collaborate, and refer as needed with physicians in the Maternal Fetal Medicine department at Tampa General Hospital shall a potential risk arise.
