QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from approved midwifery education program
Certified as a CPM from the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM)
Be a Licensed Certified Professional Midwife from the State of Florida
Prefer 3 years of experience with birth center experience a plus
Current NRP and BLS certifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The certified professional midwife (CPM) is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn clients. The CPM performs physical exams; collects and documents data; facilitates physiological labor, birth and emergency management; conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations; and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications.
Participates in direct client care activities in rotation with other birth center midwives
Adheres to the birth center model of care and philosophy of physiological birth, trauma-informed care, and informed consent
Adheres to birth center eligibility criteria for clients throughout antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care
Provides comprehensive midwifery care and appropriate referrals
Provides competent and respectful care to all families regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or disabilities
Participates in once-monthly drills and monthly staff meetings
Participates in professional and community awareness activities
Supervises the orientation and functioning of birth assistants
Responsible for delegated aspects of daily operation, including acting in absence of Clinical Midwife Director
Participates in a quality assurance program
All staff are responsible for the maintenance and care of the birth center which includes cleaning, sanitation, laundry, and equipment maintenance
