Job Description:
Certified Nurse Midwife

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master or Doctorate Degree in Nursing

  • Certified as a nurse midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)

  • Active APRN license in the State of Florida

  • Current NRP and BLS certifications

  • Committed to trauma-informed approach to care

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALITIES

  • Previous community birth setting experience

  • Prioritizes safety and client/family experience

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion in high-stress situations

  • Desire to impact a small organization in a positive way


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Adheres to the birth center model of care and philosophy of physiological birth, trauma-informed care, and informed consent

  • Adheres to birth center eligibility criteria for clients throughout antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care to include newborn care.

  • Provides comprehensive midwifery care

  • Provides competent and respectful care to all families regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or disabilities

  • Participates in once-monthly drills/ in-service provided in-house

  • Participates in professional and community awareness activities

  • Supervises the orientation and functioning of birth assistants

  • Participates in a quality assurance program


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle, or feel. 

  • The employee is regularly required to use keyboarding skills, using hands to enter data or text.  

  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. 

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. 

  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 


POSITION REPORTS TO: Responsible to the Office Manager for administrative functions and to the Clinical Director for clinical functions of the Birth Center.
